Joint Community Forum: Exploring how 5G is powering digital industries across APAC and Europe

In this joint forum session, we will bring together members of the GSMA APAC 5G Industry & IoT community, and the GSMA Digital Industries community, to exchange their experiences on how 5G is powering digital transformation, the challenges and successes, across Asia Pacific and Europe. The session is also supported by the 5G ACIA which includes organizations of the OT and ICT industries that jointly strive to make sure that the particular interests of the industrial domain are adequately considered in 5G standardization and regulation.

Industrial companies have been gradually progressing on digital transformation over the last few years with innovation in cloud, digital twins, IoT and AI, driving new opportunities for cost saving, safety management, sustainability, and productivity.

Across the globe, ecosystem players are taking advantage of 5G private networks, which are a core enabler of these new technologies. We will discuss in:

  • The status of the industrial sector and the view for the next 5 years
  • How Telco’s are expanding their portfolios and support industries transforming
  • Use cases of 5G networks in industrial enterprises

Wanvisa Jantara

Head of Enterprise Account Sales Group, B2, AIS

Wanvisa is head of AIS Business sales team serving enterprise customer over 2,000 accounts across many industries in Thailand market. The current key focus vertical is on manufacturing and transportation & logistics areas.

Before serving AIS, she got more than 20year’s work experience in Telecommunication vendors/operator with Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia, and Comverse Technology.

 

Jo Gilbert

Technical Director, GSMA

Jo Gilbert is a Technical Director at the GSMA. She leads the GSMA Digital Industries activities which brings together mobile network operators, enterprises, and the wider ecosystem to connect the benefits of 5G in the industrial sector.  With a career spanning 20 years in the telecom sector, Jo has supported organisations to harness new and emerging technologies such as identity, IoT, big data, artificial intelligence and 5G. She holds a Master of Informatics, and Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Terence Wong

Market Development Director, Head of APAC 5G Industry & IoT Community, APAC, GSMA

Terence serves as the Market Development Director at APAC Technology team in GSMA. The key focus is on 5G, IoT, eSIM. He establishes the APAC IoT partnership programme and the APAC 5G Industry Community that accelerates the 5G and IoT ecosystem development and innovation in the APAC region. The IoT partnership programme accumulates 60+ MNOs, 500+ innovators and ecosystem members in 20+ APAC countries, jointly drive the digital transformation in various sector including manufacturing, transportation, logistics & port, healthcare, smarty city, agriculture and environment protection etc.

Worked for IT/Telco industry for over twenty years, Terence has strong and broad experiences in telecom industries on infrastructure, product development and management, consultancy, sales and marketing. He has worked for multinational companies such as Fujitsu, Nokia, and served as the architect, consultant, product lead and pre-sales head of BSS/OSS in the Asia region.

Terence has Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic Engineering) in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Master of Business Administration (Information Technology Management) in Hong Kong Polytechnics University, previously certified as Project Management Professional (Project Management Institute).

David Smith

Head of Ecosystems, Huawei SPO Lab

Huawei SPO Lab’s mission is to research how Telco’s will do business in 5+ years’ time looking at innovations in business models, processes and ecosystems.

Stéphane Gervais

Executive VP Strategic Innovation, Partnership and Smart Data, LACROIX Group

Stéphane Gervais has more than 30 years of experience in the high-tech industry as global marketing, business development, innovation, project management, and product designer. He has worked for multi-national companies in Europe and in Asia in the consumer and industrial segments. His current position is Executive VP Strategic Innovation, Partnership and Smart Data at LACROIX Group: Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT), AI, data, new technologies, electronics, mobility and smart city are some of his favorite’s topics.

Stéphane holds a Doctorate degree (Ph. D) in Electronics from the University of Bordeaux (France) and an MBA degree from Newcastle University (Australia).

 

Ulrich Rehfuess

Head of Spectrum Policy, Nokia

Ulrich holds a diploma degree in Electrical Engineering of Technical University of Munich, Germany and one in Industrial Engineering of Fernuniversität Hagen, Germany. Of his 30+ years of professional experience in Siemens, Nokia Siemens Networks and Nokia, he spent 20+ years in R&D, business strategy, system architecture and product management of mobile radio network systems covering GSM, EDGE, UMTS, Flash OFDM, WiMAX, LTE and LTE Advanced. Since 2011, he is responsibile for spectrum policy at Nokia within the Strategy & Technology organisation. Ulrich heads the Ecosystem and Regulatory Framework working group of 5G-ACIA and is vice chair of the BITKOM spectrum working group in Germany as well as the DIGITALEUROPE spectrum working group in Brussels.

Sander Rotmensen

Director Industrial Wireless Communication, Siemens AG

Sander Rotmensen is Director of Industrial Wireless Communication at Siemens AG in Nuremberg, Germany. His responsibility covers the product portfolio for Industrial 5G, Industrial Wireless LAN, industrial routers and the SINEMA Remote Connect management platform for remote access.

Sander started his career in Siemens Nederland N.V. in 2005. He worked as a Technical Consultant for industrial automation networks with a focus on Wireless LAN. In 2008 he moved to Germany and joined Siemens AG in Nuremberg where he became a Technical Consultant with focus on Industrial Wireless Communication. After that he worked as Product Manager for SCALANCE W, the Industrial Wireless LAN portfolio from Siemens. From 2014 to 2018 Sander joined Siemens Canada Ltd. His responsibility included Marketing and Product Management for the RUGGEDCOM network components that are used in harsh industrial environments like electric power and transportation networks.

Fadli Hamsani

Fadli Hamsani, General Manager, Industrial Internet of Things, PT. Cellular Telecommunications (Telkomsel)

Hello! I am Fadli Hamsani, General Manager of Industrial Internet of Things PT. Cellular Telecommunications (Telkomsel). For more than 15 years I have been active in developing productivity and efficiency improvement programs in the manufacturing industry. At the previous company, since 2015 I was assigned as an engineering manager who implemented an automation system or the application of industry 3.0 in factory operations in Batam. At that time, the company benefited almost 39% from the increase in existing productivity. In 2018 I was given the responsibility to continue the journey of industrial transformation towards digital transformation, and in that year, I established a new department, namely the Digital Transformation department which is tasked with being the leader for mass digitalization changes, starting from the company, change management in the company, vertical side of integration and horizontal integration end to end in the supply chain in the company. In 2018 the company received recognition as the first national light house in Indonesia and in 2019 it received recognition as Advance manufacturing Industry 4.0 from the World Economic Forum (WEF).

In 2019, I began to be actively involved with the activities of the Making Indonesia 4.0 program together with the ministry of industry. Starting from being involved in the INDI 4.0 evaluation program, developing the industry 4.0 curriculum, transformation manager training programs and mentoring small and medium industries or large industries in transforming to industry 4.0. Until now, I am still actively supporting the industry 4.0 transformation acceleration program and being one of the team of experts at the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI4.0) with the Ministry of Industry.

Since 2021, last August, I joined Telkomsel as General Manager of Industrial Internet of Things. At this time, I have a responsibility to help Industry in Indonesia transform digitally Together with the industry 4.0 ecosystem that we built on Telkomsel IoT.

Jennifer Didoni

Head of Cloud, Edge and Mobile Private Networks Portfolio, Vodafone Business

Jennifer Didoni is the Head of Portfolio: Cloud, Edge and Mobile Private Networks for Vodafone Business. This portfolio covers small to medium sized businesses, public sector, national and multi-national corporates and includes mobile private networks, edge and cloud solutions, low latency applications, public cloud partnerships, Vodafone’s multi-cloud platform, traditional IT, co-location and hosting solutions, and managed and professional services.

Jennifer joined Vodafone in 2009 as the Business Manager for Vodafone’s Global Chief Technology Officer, and she has since held several roles for Vodafone Business in product and portfolio management. In addition to running Vodafone Global Enterprise’s product portfolio, she has also led the IoT Product Management portfolio, launching innovative solutions such as Internet in the Car and Narrowband IoT.

Prior to joining Vodafone, Jennifer held roles at IBM, Vail Resorts, Context:Travel and taught at The Emma Williard School and The American Overseas School of Rome.

Jennifer is an American and an Italian citizen, residing in the UK. She holds an MBA from INSEAD and a BA from Dartmouth College.
