APAC 5G Forum Community Virtual Roundtable – 5G Focus Korea: One Year On image

GSMA APAC 5G Forum Community has launched the “5G FOCUS COUNTRY SERIES” virtual roundtable focusing on the 5G development, experience, and status of pioneering countries in preparation to and/or post commercial deployment of 5G services from commercial, technology, policy and ecosystem perspectives. The first meeting started with Korea on the 28th of May 2020 from 16:00 to 18:00 (GMT+9, KST) as it was one year and one month since the launch of commercial 5G services in Korea.  The series will then follow with virtual roundtables for 5G FOCUS Malaysia in July, 5G FOCUS Japan in September, and 5G FOCUS Singapore/Australia in November.

“5G FOCUS Korea” virtual roundtable was successfully held online with over 90 attendees and 5 executive speakers from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), Korea MNOs (KT,  LGU+, SKT) and the Giga Korea Foundation to share their invaluable experience, achievements, know-how and challenges post-launch one year on covering the below points:

  • Importance of public-private sector cooperation in 5G pre and post-deployment
  • Supportive industry policies to promote 5G take-up across industries
  • Innovative 5G services for consumer, enterprise and government sectors
  • 5G network coverage expansion post-launch
  • Digital portfolio expansion strategy to overcome the decline in traditional revenues
  • Growing the 5G ecosystem
