#GSMAConnected | How can the Mobile Industry help Europe meet its ambitious climate goals?

Climate change is one of the greatest threats humanity has ever faced and the mobile industry has a big part to play in fighting this global crisis. In 2019 the European Commission presented the European Green Deal, committing to become the first climate-neutral region by 2050. The same year, the GSMA Board set an ambitious goal for the industry to be net zero by 2050.

On 31 May, the GSMA will host a roundtable discussion with key EU policy and industry decision-makers for the launch of the second GSMA State of the Industry report on Climate Action: Mobile Net Zero 2022 and an in-depth discussion on how the mobile technology can help deliver the EU Green Deal.

• How is the mobile industry helping the twin transition?
• What does the increase in data traffic mean for carbon emissions and energy consumption?
• What are the challenges and the keys to unlocking renewable energy markets?
• What impact will the rollout of 5G have for the industry’s emissions and what does is mean for legacy networks?
• How can the industry start to move towards a circular economy for both network equipment and consumer devices?

This event is part of #GSMAConnected Series of Events (formerly Mobile Meetings Series).
