GSMA LA Roaming Week: Roaming experts summit in Panama

High level executives from operators and suppliers of the mobile industry from Latin America and the Caribbean met on September 17 to 21 in the city of Panama for the GSMA LA Roaming Week. the meeting, organized by GSMA Latin America, was essential for the regional telecommunications industry.

Cable & Wireless Panamá was the host of this week that included different activities that focused about topics like Roaming WFi, Data Roaming Transparency, Roaming in border areas, LTE Roaming and key regulatory matters for the Roaming areas regionally.

GSMA LA Roaming Week represents an unique opportunity for everyone involved in the dynamic areas of Roaming’s operators in Latin America and the Caribbean of being updated and exchange interesting experiences for the benefit of our clients and the business growth”, said the Executive Officer and General Manager of Cable & Wireless Panamá, Jorge Nicolau.

In the meeting also participated Zelmar Rodriguez Crespo, General Manager of Panama’s National Authority of Public Services (ASEP), who talked about the initiatives and public projects that the country has for the telecommunications industry. “Panamá is leading important projects in Information and Communication Technologies to materialize and to forge strategic Alliance that guarantee the free Access of all disconnected people facilitating the entry to the new technologies in the region”, she said.

GSMA LA Roaming Week included Billing & Roaming Working Group (BARG LA) meetings as well as the Roaming Innovation Group (RING) from global BARG of GSMA that counted with the international presence of representatives from companies like AT&T and T-Mobile from United States, Deutsche Telekom from Germany, NTT Docomo from Japan, Swisscom from Switzerland, Telecom from Italy and Vodafone from UK.

For his part, Sebastián Cabello, Director of GSMA Latin America, assured that: “this week that is focused on the roaming, meant a great proposal of value for the operators to continue working towards a better standardization of regional roaming operations regarding aspects like prices innovation, border Roaming and solutions for the unnoticed Roaming, among others”.
