Mobile technologies will play a central role in driving Canada’s next phase of economic growth and digital transformation. In 2025, the mobile ecosystem generated $120 billion in economic value, equivalent to 5.4% of GDP, supported almost 200,000 jobs and contributed $14 billion in tax revenues. By 2030, mobile’s contribution is forecast to reach $170 billion, driven by continued adoption of 5G, AI and digital technologies across the economy.

Canada remains among the world’s leading 5G markets, with adoption rates significantly above the global average and strong progress on 5G Standalone, 5G-Advanced and RedCap deployment.

At the same time, operators are emerging as key enablers of Canada’s AI ambitions, investing in AI infrastructure, sovereign compute capabilities and intelligent network technologies.

Looking ahead, maintaining investment in networks, spectrum and digital infrastructure will be critical to ensuring Canada can fully realise the opportunities of an increasingly connected and AI-driven economy.

The Mobile Economy Canada report explores the key trends shaping the region’s mobile industry, including 5G progress, the emerging AI ecosystem and cybersecurity and network resilience.
