Operating systems power all mobile devices. Android is the operating system powering internet-enabled devices around the world, and for users of Android mobile phones, it is essential to know how it functions in order to use a mobile phone in the desired way.

By the end of this module, your trainees will:

• Understand what Android is and how it can help them to access the internet.
• Understand what a Google account is and what it can enable them to do.
• Be able to find and download apps from the Google Play Store.
• Feel confident in using Google apps including Chrome, Google Assistant and Gmail.
• Understand about the costs of using the internet and know how to turn on Data Saver to help them use less data and save money.
• Understand how to stay safe when using the internet on their Android phone.
• Recognise the different Android icons and know what they mean.
