Held on 4 June, the webinar was focused on describing 5G and what it means for electromagnetic (EMF) exposure based on the results of assessments of 5G networks (commercial and pilot) conducted across the world . Implications for operators and policymakers were also discussed based on the fact that the international EMF exposure guidelines were updated in March 2020 and one of the major changes was to provide more detailed guidance for frequencies above 6 GHz.
Pointers were also provided to reliable sources of information and the tools available from the GSMA to avoid misinformation on 5G. The key speakers included Dr. Jack Rowley , Senior Director – Research & Sustainability – GSMA, Ms. Sarah Wylie – Group EMF Manager – Vodafone & GSMA Global EMF and Health Group and Jawad Abbassi – Head of MENA – GSMA who moderated the session.
