RCS MENA Roundtable

Aimed at mobile network operators looking to offer advanced messaging to their customers and take advantage of the commercial opportunities of Messaging as a Platform, the Roundtable series highlights the central role operators can play in the future of business communications. Through partnerships and industry collaboration, operators, aggregators and leading vendors are delivering a unified, consistent and engaging user experience that will scale to create a global community.

The MENA edition of the Rich Communication Services (RCS) Roundtable took place on the first day of the RCS MENA Summit on 9 May in Amman, Jordan and was attended by representatives from various regional operators who included:

  • STC Group
  • Etisalat – United Arab Emirates
  • Viva -Bahrain
  • Jawwal – Palestine
  • Zain Group
  • Orange – Jordan
  • Umniah –  Jordan

The Roundtable was meant to be bring together operators who have launched, or are about to launch RCS, and those with an interest in providing this technology to their customers. It provided a platform to discuss the opportunities that RCS and RCS Business Messaging will bring in both Person-to-Person and Application-to-Person communications. It also enabled attendees to share the lessons learned with their peers.

The GSMA team presented an overview of RCS on the first day and some use cases on the second day. There was also the Application-to-Person lab on the second day that was sponsored by Cequens.

The next RCS Roundtable will take place in Shanghai, China on 28 June followed by another one in Moscow, Russia on 30 October.
