Provisioning gender intentional and inclusive digital skills initiatives
- Consider gender at the outset of planning any digital skills initiatives.
- Pick suitable times and settings for digital skills training, considering that women’s schedules and daily activities may differ from men.
- Consider the duration of the training as women may be more time poor than men.
- Train agents, staff and partners involved in digital skills campaigns about the unique needs, aspirations and challenges of women which may be distinct from men’s.
- Involve [male] gatekeepers in digital skills campaigns to educate them on the benefit of mobile internet for women and the whole family and consider formally recognising the time commitment of women to learning digital skills.
- Provide opportunities for women to trial their digital skills.
- Test and review all video content with different groups of women to ensure it resonates with women as well as men in your target audience.
