Network 2020 at Innovation City
Hundreds of visitors flocked to the Network 2020 stand to see Network Slicing, Mobile Edge Computing and RCS in action. Our Partners China Mobile, Ericsson, Intel, Nokia, SKT and Summit-Tech were on hand to showcase the future of RCS and 4G evolution to 5G. GSMA experts were out in force demonstrating the All-IP Business Guide helping Operators on the all-IP journey from business rationale to technical implementation.
DEMONSTRATIONS | |
Universal messaging platform | |
RCS VR User Experience Summit-Tech |
Explored the advanced communications experience your customers can enjoy via a virtual reality demonstration. |
RCS Controlling the Home Summit-Tech |
RCS can be used in a variety of ways including controlling items in the home remotely. A major benefit to a subscriber’s daily life. This demonstration showed two-way communication between end users and a bot which manages home automation devices. |
RCS Online Business Directory China Mobile |
RCS helps the user but also provides a means for businesses to communicate with consumers. A service benefit for both the operator and user. This was a dDemonstration of the latest online Business Directory using RCS. |
4G evolution to 5G | |
Augmented Reality with MEC China Mobile, Intel, and Nokia |
Live demo of MEC (Mobile Edge Computing) and AR (Augmented Reality). Using a camera to view an object, the system identified and explored the object using AR. Read more in the new paper: Real-World Impact of Mobile Edge Computing (MEC). |
5G Network Slicing SKT and Ericsson |
Traditional, one-size-fits-all network architectures worked well for single-service subscriber networks, however, the resulting vertical architecture has made it difficult to scale telecom networks. Slicing networks provides greater insight into network resource utilization, as each slice is customised to match the level of delivery complexity required. |
5G Live Radio Data Transmission SKT and Ericsson |
5G brings faster data rates. This live demonstration showed how even the 20Gbps ITU-R spec can be exceeded. Earlier technologies cannot deliver this and it is an important feature of future networks. |
