Let’s get in the right mindset – foster positivity and constructiveness
Being positive and constructive is about accepting the contributions and opinions of others. This fosters cooperation and encourages more people to participate in the discussion. The ‘Yes, and…’ method helps people to accept what others have said (‘yes’) and encourage them to say more (‘and’). So instead of saying, ‘Yes, but…’, which introduces disagreement and halts communication, the ‘yes, and…’ rule helps people be receptive to the ideas of others. You learn not to immediately judge someone’s input and to develop the discussion without limitations.
