African Roundtable

The African Mobile Phone Financial Services Policy Initiative (AMPI) was launched in February 2013 by African financial sector regulators with the aim to provide high-level leadership in the overall development of mobile financial services policy and regulatory frameworks, coordinate efforts of regional peer learning and exchange, and share knowledge along with regional experiences. The Central Bank of Kenya Governor Njuguna Ndung’u is the Chair of AMPI, and Banque Centrale des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (BCEAO) Governor Tiémoko Meyliet Kone is the Vice Chair. On July 11, back to back with the Mobile Money for the Unbanked Leadership Forum, the GSMA, AMPI and the Alliance for Financial Inclusion hosted a round table providing a platform to senior policy makers, regulators, and mobile money industry leaders to discuss what joint initiatives the public and private sector can undertake to achieve digital financial inclusion in Africa.
