The sixth MMU Leadership Forum took place on Friday 7th November 2014 in Cape Town, co-located with the Mobile 360 Series – Africa event.
Almost 100 industry leaders and senior policymakers from 22 countries participated in the Leadership Forum, where the 2014 theme was “Building Sound and Inclusive Financial Ecosystems Through Mobile Money.” A critical success factor for an effective digital financial ecosystem is that regulations are conducive to the sustainability of new business models, that they allow for competition between players and that they support widespread adoption of sound and responsible business practices. Building on this, attendees discussed the necessary elements to create an effective framework that underpins the implementation of trusted partnerships, the safety and convenience of services, and the integrity and stability of the sector.
