The refugee crisis – and refugee’s dependency on mobile phones – reaches far beyond Europe. Across the world, UNHCR has been tracking the importance of mobile phones in the daily lives of those displaced. From improvised charging facilities at the Croatian border to the use of tablets to deliver desperately desired educational support to refugees stranded in Kenya, this photo essay captures the many ways phones are integral to the survival of refugees worldwide.
