Our GSMA members only event presents industry insight and impacts on roaming, what’s happening now, as well as plans for the future.
Across four days, the WAS#15 event at MWC Barcelona 2022 will include access to a lounge where operator negotiations can take place and a nearby exhibition area. Cicada Exchange has developed an electronic market place that allows mobile operators to buy and sell roaming capacity to each other. The contractual and technical arrangements stay exactly the same. The only thing that changes is the way prices are set.
There is no charge to become a Member of the Exchange and by being a Member, Operators can see the prices in markets that they are interested in.
Cicada Exchange is risk free and existing mechanisms to set prices for traffic and make commitments can happen in parallel. Operators can trade as much or as little as they want.
Cicada Exchange will co-exist with all your current practices (and ways of working) and will be an online platform where you can connect with roaming partners to set prices and make commitments whenever required, giving greater flexibility.
Cicada Exchange allows either quarterly or annual contracts up to 5 years ahead.
Multiple contracts in a quarter or year are possible.
With uncertainty about demand, using Cicada Exchange will allow operators to feel their way forward in 2021 and 2022 without the need to make big commitments pending clarity about market demand.
Cicada Exchange will deliver significant cost controls on roaming traffic and will facilitate future innovation on the market.
