Through the Operator Platform Group (OPG) the GSMA has defined some key functionalities to enhance Edge capabilities.

• Smart Edge allocation, and selection to perform load deployment and access from the closest edge
• Edge federation to offer a multi domain Access to customer and enhance edge service under roaming scenarios
• Tight network integration to enhance mobility and user experience

Now that the OPG has defined the architecture and main functionalities, the group is working to ensure that the interfaces of the platforms are properly defined and refer to existing work in Standard Definition Organisations (SDOs) where appropriate. To do that the OPG hosted a webinar inviting the delegates from various SDOs with activities around edge.

The objective of this webinar was to share the level of coverage identified by the GSMA against current ETSI and 3GPP activities, possible overlaps and gaps that have to be solved to reach a proper standard definition of the platform.
