Beijing Marine Communication & Navigation Co., Ltd’s IsatPhone Business of 1749 Segment Goes Live

th July 2017, MCN’s IsatPhone business of 1749 segment has been officially put into use in China. This is another raise on the communication service capabilities of Inmarsat’s businesses, after receiving the basic telecommunication operator license from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology back in March 2016. MCN has complied with laws and regulations to acquire a dedicated segment of satellite mobile communication business called 1749 segment, in where has been gone online. The establishment of using this segment has changed the restriction and limitation on opening an international direct dialing permit for the domestic public subscribers to use an IsatPhone in the past, trimmed the calling numbers from 14 digits down to 11 digits to make it more convenient. It has been over 30 years since Inmarsat started to provide services in China, and its businesses wildly covered the fields of petroleum, long distances ocean works, fast responses, news and media reports, scientific investigations, wild surveys, tourism and so on and so forth, and it also provides convenient commercial communications and family connections for fishermen, which is the most important information interactive method for vessels and crew members in the sea to do daily communications, safety communications and emergency communications. IsatPhone is very compact and easy to carry, high stability of signals, simple to operate, and tough and durable, 1749 segment can also fulfill the demands of making and receiving calls easily for subscribers, and moreover, it’s very suitable to carry out businesses on the areas which have lack coverage of terrestrial networks, in order to meet customer’s business requirement on rapid deployment. Since 1979, authorized the accession to the International Maritime Organization by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, MCN has been committed to develop businesses of satellite communication services. No matter is in the Indonesian tsunami, Wenchuan earthquake, Malaysia Airlines MH370 incidents, and other major emergencies, or the spacecraft launches of Shenzhou Series, 2008 Beijing Olympic events, and other major national activities, Inmarsat services have always been played a significant role of ensuring communications and transmitting information, in particular, the overseas’ major tasks of China, such as Libya evacuations, foreign peacekeeping operations and other international search and rescue actions, the full coverage and all-weather communications capabilities of Inmarsat services have played an irreplaceable role in gaining the initiative rescue time, enhancing China’s international reputations, and also ensuring the information and communication safety. After MCN obtains the basic telecommunication operator license, the maritime satellite telecommunication service capabilities have stepped onto a new stair, the development of satellite mobile communications has also entered into the fast lane. On one hand, MCN has already started to establish the fifth generations of Inmarsat ground access hub station system and ground gateway, on the other hand, MCN has also carried out the facilities’ renovation project of the VSAT ground station, to further improve the coverage and service capabilities of VSAT communication, to support the national “Belt and Road” strategy.
