tyntec enables cloud telephony in Italy with Nòverca

tt.One partnership with MVNO provides two-way voice and SMS between apps, websites and mobile phones

19th November 2013 – Mobile interaction services provider tyntec (http://www.tyntec.com) has announced it has signed a deal with Italian MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) Nòverca to bring 2-way cloud telephony and SMS coverage to Italy through its tt.One solution. Under the terms of the partnership, Nòverca will supply local virtual mobile numbers, allowing tyntec to provide SMS and mobile voice for VoIP providers, OTT (over the top) companies, social networks, dating sites, enterprises and app developers.

tyntec’s tt.One solution places voice, SMS and mobile numbers into the cloud, providing a bridge between web/OTT and telecoms. This means Italian and international companies will be able to provide services such as free/low cost OTT voice and text apps, extended VoIP with SMS and phone numbers. Such services could reach any of the 96 million mobile subscribers in Italy, as well as opening up Italian phone numbers to people all over the world. This would allow expats and tourists visiting the country to have a local mobile number for texting and phone calls.

Nòverca is the only full MVNO in Italy, meaning the company operates its own core infrastructure using the TIM radio access network, and has over 200,000 subscribers.  The partnership with tyntec will provide the virtual operator with additional voice and SMS revenue from OTT traffic, which according to mobilesquared will be worth $8.4 billion worldwide by 2016.

Claudio Carnevale, CEO of Acotel Group, holding of Nòverca, said: “Being the first and only Italian point of access for OTT services through tt.One gives us an innovative opportunity to capitalise on this growing market. The financial rewards of such services are sometimes unclear, so working with tyntec on a tangible revenue share model seems like a natural step and an easy way to tackle OTT services for MVNOs like Nòverca.”

José Garcia, Vice President of Sales and Carrier Relations for tyntec stated, “This partnership shows how mobile operators can benefit from the additional revenue opportunities available in the OTT market. MVNOs with core network access can use tt.One to take advantage of the growing end-user demand for OTT services such as mobile VoIP and other Internet-based mobile communications. By partnering with tyntec, Nòverca now has the opportunity to receive revenues from ever increasing OTT services.”
