US-Based Twilio Acquires Beepsend AB

Malmö, Sweden – February 8, 2017: San Francisco-based Twilio Inc., the leading cloud communications platform company, has acquired Beepsend, a Malmö-based Application to Person (A2P) SMS messaging provider. With the acquisition, Beepsend will help accelerate the product roadmap for the Twilio Super Network.

Twilio‘s mission is to fuel the future of communications. Developers and businesses use Twilio to make communications relevant and contextual by embedding messaging, voice and video capabilities directly into their software applications. Founded in 2008, Twilio has over 700 employees, with headquarters in San Francisco and other offices in Bogotá, Dublin, Hong Kong, London, Madrid, Mountain View, Munich, New York City, Singapore and Tallinn. The addition of the Beepsend team in Malmö further expands Twilio’s global reach.

Beepsend provides capabilities such as message traffic segmentation, route monitoring and analysis which will be integrated into the Twilio platform, enhancing the capabilities of the Twilio Super Network. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Malmö, Sweden. In 2016, the company was voted a Tier 1 A2P SMS Messaging Provider globally in a survey of 260 mobile network operators (MNOs) across 188 countries covering more than 35 KPIs on performance and leadership.
