The next Fraud and Security Group meeting (FASG#21) will take place virtually between 2-4 November 2021 and will run over multiple sessions to facilitate participation by members in different time zones.

Join GSMA and industry experts on Thursday, 4 November, 15:00-17:00 GMT, who will discuss topics relating to the meeting theme: Scams, Shams and Spam, and the Implications for Telecoms Fraud and Security Managers.

  • The Which? Strategic approach to scams
  • How we undertake investigations and build our evidence (with case studies)
  • How we empower consumers
  • Consumers are not the weakest link
  • Why we also need a holistic policy approach
15:45 – 16:20 Should the Communications Service Provider (CSP) be responsible for providing secure broadband? – Itay Glick, VP Cyber Security Product Management, Allot

  • Allot research shows that consumers a) are concerned about cybersecurity, b) believe that their CSP should be responsible for providing protection and c) are willing to pay for those services. Pressure from government bodies is also growing to get mobile and fixed broadband operators to provide cybersecurity protection to their customers. What’s more, CSPs are positioned well to provide such services and can profit from the delivery of inexpensive cybersecurity services for consumers to protect against viruses, trojans, phishing and ransomware attacks and other types of cyber threats. Knowing all that, we raise the question of whether the CSP should be expected to provide secure broadband and whether there could be guidance from the GSMA to encourage these actions.

  • The opportunity for the telecoms industry to recognise and prepare for the new reality.
