The annual Secure IoT conference helps professionals and organisations understand the potential risks and vulnerabilities posed by using IoT systems and connected devices. Leading security experts will share insights, best practices and guidelines to help build a trusted IoT.

Join Ian Smith, IoT Security Lead for his presentation on using the SIM to secure IoT solutions, and meet him at the GSMA IoT Security booth to discuss IoT security risks, best practices and the work of the mobile industry in more detail.

Leveraging the SIM as a ‘Root of Trust’ to Secure IoT Applications

The GSMA has investigated how to leverage existing mobile operator assets to help secure IoT services – one of these key assets being the SIM. In his presentation, Ian Smith, IoT Security Lead, will describe how cellular connected (GSM, LTE, NB-IoT) IoT devices can use the capabilities of the SIM to enhance the security of commonly used IoT security protocols such as Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS). Ian will also talk about the work the GSMA is undertaking to create a ‘common implementation guide’ for this capability – to the benefit of the IoT developer community.
