Starhome’s Data Roaming Suite Warms up Revenue and Keeps the Heat off Roamers

Zurich, Switzerland; 7 June 2012 – Starhome®, the leading provider of solutions to enable multi-network mobility, is preparing its mobile operators for the summertime surge in data roaming usage with its Fearless Data™ Suite. The suite encompasses the best features of Starhome’s field-proven roaming solutions to assist mobile operators in utilizing the opportunities brought about by the substantial holiday travel and includes: Micro-segmented marketing campaigns to encourage usage, steering capabilities to support ad-hoc campaigns based on wholesale commitments, and analytical tools that build and monitor data packages while supporting the negotiation process.

Subscribers today have full transparency of spending while in their home environment and seldom incur extra costs through constant data usage. However, the insatiable need to stay connected does not vanish once outside their carrier’s boundaries. Subscribers are now demanding similar roaming charges to those they receive in their home environment. The Fearless Data Suite offers operators a new approach to increasing revenue by promoting usage and reassuring roamers about costs.

The suite is the perfect partner for new EU legislation, due to come into effect in July 2012. The new regulation will see a considerable reduction in prices for data roaming services and mobile-phone calls from outside a user’s home environment. Starting in July 2014, EU subscribers will be able to choose which operator they want to use when roaming. The suite will assist operators in not only promoting data usage and lowering costs but will create customer preference and stickiness through tailored campaigns that provide complete transparency of spending while roaming.

The Starhome® Fearless Data suite encourages usage by empowering roamers to manage and control their data usage. The suite promotes tailored packages to meet each roamer’s individual needs and usage patterns, and real-time information keeps roamers constantly aware of how much they are spending.

In addition to general holiday travel, two mega events are set to take place this year in Europe, the Olympic Games in London, and the UEFA EURO 2012, in Ukraine and Poland, giving mobile operators an additional opportunity to raise the revenue bar by implementing micro-segmented marketing campaigns.

Dynamic campaigns can include important roamer information such as tariff notification, warning thresholds, actual usage and relevant location-based information. In addition, a smart application installed on the device condenses data to significantly reduce the volume of downloaded megabytes by removing links, white space, and streamlining content and helps puts an end to bill shock.
