GSMA mWomen Working Group members Indosat (a Qtel Group company) and Nokia were awarded the ‘Emerging Market Service Innovation’ for Info Wanita (Information for Women) service at this year’s Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards in London on June 12.

Launched on 1 June 2012, Info Wanita is a service for women in Indonesia in support of women’s empowerment. Deploying the Nokia Life Tool’s platform, Info Wanita provides easy access to information from the Foundation for Social Change, a social non-profit organisation specialising in education and empowerment of women and girls in developing countries. This includes content on several topics relevant to women in Indonesia, including health, childcare, small business management, and financial management.
