On 31 May 2023 the GSMA Connected Women programme launched the Mobile Gender Gap Report 2023. If you missed the virtual launch event, catch up on the recording here.

During the event we shared the latest data and insights on the mobile gender gap across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We also heard from ITU, Jazz and Safaricom who shared their reactions to the findings and talked about what can be done to drive digital inclusion for women.

Our new data shows further slowdown in digital inclusion for women. Women are now 19% less likely than men to use mobile internet across LMICs which means that there is still a stark digital divide between men and women. The mobile internet gender gap is even wider in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. There has never been a more urgent time to address this issue and collective action is needed to ensure women are not left behind in a digital age.
