The State of Mobile Internet Connectivity Report 2023

Start: Wednesday 7 February 2024 13:00

End: Wednesday 7 February 2024 14:00

Venue: LinkedIn

Join us on Wednesday 7 February to get the latest trends in global connectivity from our State of Mobile Internet Connectivity Report 2023.

By the end of 2022, 4.6 billion people were using mobile internet – an increase of 200 million since the end of 2021. However, this represents a slowdown in the rate of growth and the ‘usage gap’ remains large at 3 billion people. It is critical that we understand the challenges to digital inclusion and what can be done to drive further progress and avoid leaving people behind in an increasingly digital world.

In this session, co-authors Matthew Shanahan and Kalvin Bahia will share the key findings from this year’s ‘The State of Mobile Internet Connectivity Report’, followed by fireside discussions with experts from Telenor Pakistan and MTN Group, moderated by Claire Sibthorpe, Head of Connected Society and Connected Women at the GSMA.

With network coverage spanning 95% of the world’s population, addressing the usage gap – the 38% of the global population covered by a mobile broadband network but not using the internet – remains the key challenge. While internet adoption continues to increase, there remains a significant digital divide between and within countries.

Join us to learn more about the evolving connectivity landscape in low- and middle-income countries, the barriers people face to using mobile internet and what factors affect this.
