Countdown to Shanghai….

In just about three weeks’ time, we will be opening the doors to over 24,000 business and consumer attendees of Mobile Asia Expo 2014 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in China (SNIEC). Our third Mobile Asia Expo, taking place 11th-13th June, promises to be the most exciting yet.

So what can you expect to see at #MAE14? Well, we have a whole new range of programmes and activities at this year’s event that are going to offer attendees, particularly technology-savvy consumers, an even more engaging experience. On the exhibition floor, we’ve added a Showcase Stage, where leading bloggers and tech entrepreneurs will be discussing and demonstrating the latest exciting devices and products in the mobile world. You’ll also be able to hear Chinese pop star Jane Zhang perform live!

At Mobile World Congress this year, we ran the very first Fitbit Challenge, which was a huge hit with Congress attendees – during the four days, Fitbit Challenge participants took more than 50 million steps, that is 36,000km walked or run by the 1400 participants who took part – and we’re going to be doing the same at Mobile Asia Expo. Working closely with Fitbit, we will be challenging you to make the most of your time at the event – monitor your daily activity and make sure you’re at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the show!

Make sure you watch the Mobile Asia Expo website for more details on this and the new Shanghai-wide treasure hunt – The Quest for Area 14. This is a fantastic mobile game featuring augmented reality technology that we’ve created especially for MAE – you’ll need to download the app to take part in the treasure hunt, which will take place across the event, but more excitingly throughout Shanghai! It’s going to be launched at the end of this month, so make sure you keep an eye out for it.

As always, we have a fantastic line-up of speakers participating in the Mobile Forum conference programme. I’m looking forward to hearing from some of the leading executives from across our industry and you won’t want to miss the Mobile World Live keynote session with Lin Bin from Xiaomi on 11th June. Designed exclusively for mobile industry professionals, the Mobile Forum  includes not only visionary keynotes, but two days of breakout sessions covering the topics and trends that are shaping our industry And of course, attendees will have ample time for discussion, networking and deal-making.

The Connected City promises to build on the success of previous years and will take you through a real-world urban environment with mobile-connected products and services that can improve people’s daily lives across automotive, education, health, homes, retail and other applications. Make sure you take time to visit the City and check out exciting demonstrations from BMW, CityZen, Fitbit, Huawei, KT and Sequans, among others.

Finally, as ever, we have a wide range of featured programmes taking place, designed to help you make the most of your time at the event – you’ll be able to find details of these on the Mobile Asia Expo website along with details for everything else taking place during the week. For those of you joining us in Shanghai, I hope you have a fantastic time at MAE – and remember you can keep up to date with what’s happening through our social media channels – for more details on these, click here.
