GSMA allocates TAC (Type Allocation Code) to manufacturers of 3GPP-compatible devices worldwide and manages a database of registered devices which includes highly accurate and detailed device intelligence. We market this data as GSMA Device Map to operators and their business partners to improve network services and device analytics.

GSMA also exchanges blacklisted IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier) data, unique to all devices, between operators to facilitate the fast sharing of reported lost and stolen devices. Called GSMA Device Check, it assists the entire ecosystem function more effectively, protecting legitimate manufacturers and deterring device crime by rendering stolen devices less valuable.
