The GSMA AgriTech Accelerator was implemented between 2023 and 2025 in Cambodia, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia.
The GSMA AgriTech Accelerator (‘the Accelerator’) was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), as part of the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation in Agriculture (i4Ag) and carried out by the GSMA on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ). This initiative supported and fast-tracked the growth of innovative, revenue-generating digital agriculture solutions that improved smallholder farmers’:
- Livelihoods
- Financial inclusion
- Climate resilience
The GSMA provided technical assistance for a period of two years to support the scaling of digital agriculture solutions. The following 9 cohort members benefited from a range of technical assistance tools, including targeted consulting from the GSMA team, user experience and product design / management support, farmer feedback surveys, access to GSMA events and insights and capacity building for investor readiness.
Focus areas
The Accelerator focused on digital agriculture solutions that leverage mobile technology to support improved livelihoods, climate resilience and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers, and enable equitable access for female farmers, young farmers and/or farmers with disabilities.
The digital agriculture solutions supported by the Accelerator operated in the following use cases:
- Digital advisory
