The European Commission (EC) has identified smart cities, agriculture, manufacturing and healthcare as focus areas for a series of AI and robotics projects earmarked for a total of €200 million in funding. The funding recognises these areas as important to building an AI ecosystem and supporting Europe’s strategic leadership in the field. Successful schemes would receive between €40 million and €60 million each over five years.
Authorities and companies around the world are increasingly investing in AI testing facilities to drive adoption across verticals. The facilities require network and infrastructure support from operators, with 5G playing a vital role. Collaboration with other ecosystem players will help build new use cases across verticals and generate new business streams for operators.
