We are pleased to share Green Power for Mobile’s 8th Bi-annual Report, capturing our main activities that have happened over the past 6 months.
As you will read, GPM has been travelling extensively, organising four Working Groups in Bangladesh, Nigeria, Uganda and India, and researching the Asian and African markets in order to produce Vendor Landscapes, such as those for West and Francophone Africa, East Africa, Bangladesh and Indonesia. In addition, the team also published a Green Power for Mobile Global Vendor Directory, three Market Analysis Reports of West and Francophone Africa and Indonesia and one Feasibility Study. In short, it has been a busy beginning to 2013.
To date, the number of deployed renewable energy sites has reached over 35,000 and we expect this figure to continue growing, with countries such as India forging ahead. We are also turning our focus to markets increasing their efforts to green their networks, such as in West and Francophone Africa, as the Vendor Landscapes and Market Analysis Reports illustrate.
Mobile Enabled Community Services – GPM’s sister programme building from the Community Power from Mobile Programme – also takes advantage of this update to present some of its work with Safaricom in Kenya and TNM in Malawi, as well as the programme’s new Innovation Grant.
