Mobile Money

Mobile money is increasing in popularity across many countries but for individuals to benefit from mobile money they must first understand what it is, what they can use it for, and how it works. This will empower them to begin making digital financial transactions through a mobile money provider.

By the end of this module, your trainees will:

Understand what mobile money is and the benefits of using it.
Know how to register for a mobile money account.
Be able to perform functions such as send money to a friend or relative, and pay a bill.
Have an understanding of other use cases for mobile money including paying for goods and services, getting a loan, earning interest on savings, and sending/receiving money from abroad.
Understand the basic safety implications of using mobile money

To complement the GSMA’s mobile money module, and provide more in-depth training that builds on these foundation skills, we are proud to partner with the Strategic Impact Advisors and share their USAID-funded digital financial literacy series, “Hey Sister! Show Me the Mobile Money!”. The series contains 25 episodes, available in 16 languages and, with scripts you can modify, feature engaging conversations among the women (and sometimes the men in their lives). The series is designed to raise awareness and confidence among women, so that they may consider and effectively use digital financial services.
