The 5G IoT Summit at MWC24 Barcelona was a tremendous success. Attracting over 360 attendees from 241 companies of which 45.5% were at director level and above.

This year we brought together the IoT ecosystem, to discuss how as an industry we are making IoT easier for customers. To bring this discussion to life, we had 4 keynotes from sponsors Giesecke+Devrient, Kigen, Wiliot and Thales. Each keynote illustrating the impact of the IoT technology and sharing use cases demonstrating growth, security and scalability.

In addition, two panel discussion each focused on the innovative business potential, that the IoT technology in bringing to the industry. Demonstrating the growth and scale up we see from new technologies and enablers such as NTN Satellite linking with Cellular LPWAN and the launch of the new GSMA IoT eSIM Specification.

The summit concluded with an update on the state of IoT, from an analyst perspective. In this presentation, the audience were taken on a journey of where IoT was 10 years ago, to where it is now and what future trends and developments are likely to surface in 2024 and beyond, such as eSIM and the business models to evolve from that and 5G opportunities in IoT.
